"Nexus" is an award-winning sculpture, taking the 3-D People’s Choice Award in the 2016 Georgetown College State of Fine Art Exhibition.
Nexus combines elements from industry and nature. It was carved from Box Elder wood, and placed in a two-piece sand mold, where aluminum was cast directly onto the wood form. With little control over this process, the outcomes are unpredictable. It is within this battle of control that I find myself, fully engaged, in the concept of humanity versus nature. The charred wood aesthetic displays the scars that industry leaves on nature.
Material - Box Elder Wood/Aluminum
Technique - Wood Carving/ Cast aluminum
Dimensions - 16" x 10" x 5"
